Day 216 was unreal for wind. Plus 16 but so windy. Blew our glass table of the deck busting 2 legs, a few shingles and 10 feet fascia, the large water tubs blown over fences and all the tubs scattered everywhere through the fields but we got lucky, downtown Calgary was shut down due to large glass windows blowing out. We just got home here are 7:00 from supper and passed a 40 foot evergreen a couple blocks down blown right over roots and all across the street.
I snapped these shots the next day, here is the one tree
and right across the street is another with the top snapped off
At the ranch today we continued to clean and unload boxes. I got up at 9 with Britt and Sheldon getting up later. A good breakfast of bacon and fried potatoes (S also had a big bowl of cereal) and it was time to load the horse trailer. Gas, Tims and a stop at work to print a copy of Britt's project delayed the arrival at the ranch until 11. Mom came out soon after having done her shopping for Travis.
the almost clean island to start the day
Sheldon worked on the back closet while Mom washed the entire laundry room top to bottom allowing me to unpack items to store in there
Britt worked on unloading all her clothes and setting up her dream closet
I unpacked food in the pantry too
and in my bathroom cabinets
lovely.. so exciting to have it near yet closed
Mom cleaning the main bathroom, this woman is a work horse even with a bum knee
Sheldon at our late lunch break (2:30) with eyes full of dirt from going outside and mayonnaise on his face.. LOL
Britt washing the basement window casings
the finished closet
the slate from yesterday
Mom hand washing the back entry tile
and making the office doors sparkle
Britt cleaning the railing
Sheldon checking the stair light programmer after he and I built another shelving unit for the media/audio components
this is after 2 days of vacuflo use.. holy cow heh?
I gave the slate a 2nd coat, looks lovely I must say
then I cleaned the entry light, making it all pretty. Mom and I scrubbed the front door glass too
After all her hard work, at 6 we took Mom for supper at The Station, THANKS SO MUCH MOM!!!! We could not have done so much without all your help. At seven it was back to the town house to load the trailer again. Aaron,Kaylin & Shaina came over to help to. At 8, Aaron, Sheldon and I headed back to the ranch with the load. Destruction was everywhere from the winds, the KCF bucket and sign was smashed and stuck up against the chain link school fence, DQ lost part of their glass sign, other signs tripped over and trees everywhere crashed onto the ground.Wind was recorded at 149 KM/HR at the top of the Bow in Calgary and they say higher in out lying areas.. explains lots of damage.
At the ranch we quickly unloaded and started back to town only to find Shaina and Kaylin coming down the lane. So we jumped out and walked back to the house to help them unload. I unpacked boxes while Dude worked on her room and the others visited and enjoyed a few cold beer (after A&S moved the extra stairs to back wall)
the recycling pile grows daily!
SNOW! what strange weather
9:30 back to town in snow if you can believe it.. and still plus 4!! Time for a shower and paralyzers, I blogged and packed more boxes ready for Sheldon to take out tomorrow morning. He has taken the day off as we have 8 trades coming to finish up and he has many outside jobs that can be done in this balmy weather.
