Day 64 -windows go in

Day 64 found Sheldon taking another vacation day.. Hmmm he really likes this building stuff, to help Rob and his son install windows. seems they are failry heavy so it was good him and Gertie were there to help.

from inside looking out dormer and front door
very dark photo of the fireplace and great room, don't worry not that cloudy out, these windows have a cool protective covering you do not remove until ready to move in!!
 west side nearly complete
gas line back filled

Day 63 windows arrive

Day 63 was window arrive day. Sheldon took the day off (to make a real long w/e) and ran conveyor back to Calgary, stopped at Vacuflo to see the Hide A Hose everyone is raving about and then headed to ranch to help prepare for windows and install the water hydrant.
32 of 33 triple glazed Gienow windows arrive on site

installed hydrant
 Rob finished the dormer framing

During the afternoon he also hosted a few tours of house and horses. Here is Stan W and his new friend Twix.

in the evening we all headed off to Cochrane for the last night of the Cowboy up Challenge where Britt and Shelby placed first and second.. Yeah girls!! they now want to enter the money competitions.

Day 62 - clean up

Day 62 had Sheldon and I on a mission to do catch up work that needed to get done
first stop at Tim's for the usual XL Chai tea, (and a mouthful of Spitz LOL) did I mention it rained again overnight... so sweeping rain off floor was first order with snow shovel and shop vac as per above photo
the dormer getting sheeted, hmm getting the window in will be tricky
not as much rain this time... on the floor
so then we went to weed last years trees.. wow lots of tall weeds here .. like stupid Canadian thistle, pig weed and flix weed to name a few
but after some hard picking they were gone and our trees look great, they sure grew in the year since planted, we weeded the new trees at other end and replanted some Sheldon may have planted in clumps :-) when it dries we will rototill the buggers under

Then I had to get to work in Gertie.. with a refreshment.. it was hot and weeding makes you parched, we got the conveyor out of the window and loaded up to return. next was yard and house clean up. this took a little more time as there was even more wood, nails and garbage to pick up but with our new trusty quad trailer we got 'er done!
the handy trailer in action! 7 pm and off to have supper with the girls.
east side as of today! June 26th

Day 61 - holy gravel!!

Day 61 was a dusty dirty sweaty day for many. It started early with Sheldon, Shaina, Shannon and myself. We all worked to get the darn gravel from basement into the trailer - (note as to why.. the gravel guy filled the basement to the footing tops not taking into account Sheldon had told him we were doing in floor heat which needed to be 2 inches below the footing top!!!) Shannon headed home to ride her horse but we were lucky enough to have the Stouts drop off Britt and Darren stayed to help. What a help he was, Sharon and Shelby came back later to get him and brought fresh rice krispie treats!! we are very blessed to have such great neighbors!! Thanks guys!!
this is an action shot of the hard work
the moving between windows was tricky too but Gertie the skid steer always comes thru, she moved it with ease.
not usually on the camera end but Shaina had it for a bit, proves I was there working right?

the top rock shot is what we got out Friday and Saturday (all but the taller pile) and in the trailer is from NW window

a quick snap of a bit of perspiration :-)
the SE window load... whew!! hot sunny day of hard work by all

Day 60 - rain.. yep! but later in day

Day 60 had Sheldon out at the ranch to meet plumber early and push overnight rain of floor then off we went to cow town  for chiro and meeting with designer Lisa to choose lights.

just a few we may choose

We then picked up the conveyor belt and headed to the ranch. the day was hot which brought on an evening shower,
here is the rain inside the house which has most of the roof sheeted but this was sideways rain!
 and lots of it!
here is the west side showing the roofing progress to date
we hooked up the conveyor and like magic rocks ended up in the trailer
ok maybe not magic..maybe after a long learning curve of how to load the belt and unjam rocks as pictured
let me say there was allot of sweat put into this first run at gravel removal. I had so much work up top switching off to not burn out the motor with the jam ups!

but the night ended with a pretty sunset yet again.

Day 58/59 - roof sheeting

Day 58 the roof sheeting began, the weather was SUNNY!!
and he started to frame the front dormer shown here at night
he had the west side of house sheeted, this view is from where i was having farrier reset Julio's shoes and trim Bandit on Day 59 where he continued to sheet east side
later that night
and the plumbing guy started to plumb rooms

Day 56/57 rafters to roof

Day 56 was finishing up putting the rafters together with intermittent rain of course but Day 57 the sun came out, the crane arrived, Sheldon took the day off work to help assemble our roof!!

here is a shot of the crane which earlier was stuck on the way in not staying on the road (he thought the rain in the puddles would get him stuck.. DUH driving in a hay field might be worse!!, thanks goodness Darren S has a tractor to help that issue) so after a half hour delay getting him unstuck he arrived on site to lift these rafters.

Rob and his son Ryan then set about squaring them while Sheldon hooked up the horse waterer and back filled the rest of the trench. Quite a successful day at the ranch.

and I stayed home and trimmed a few trees :-)
just a wee few branches.. crushed into my wheel barrow

they are looking so much better and easier to mow under.
