Day 173 - Sunny Saturday at the ranch

Day 173 was a lovely relaxed starting day. Shaina was up and off to work at Target by nine. Sheldon and I got up around ten when the ringette girls came knocking for bottle drive. Sheldon had to run to the bank for an appointment and then dropped Britt at work at 11. I put a quick touch up coat on the pot light trim rings.

Sheldon and I then headed out to the ranch after a tea grab where we chatted with Dustin and Connor who were working on the laundry room cabinets. First project was to unload the dump trailer which took awhile as the Nazi guard was on duty so everything had to be bagged!! We then scooted to town to UFA to pickup some tombstone feeders only to find the ones we paid for had no panels around the base which seem pointless. So another line to return them then to town house for a quick bowl of soup since now it was 1 pm. We threw on ribs to simmer and headed back to the ranch.

With the help of the cabinet boys, the old stairs was moved out of the dining area to the garage.

then i was given a quick lesson in how to install pot light trim
 and off I went
so here is satin nickel and a white side by each to see which we wanted for the office, we chose the white
quick snap of the touch up work Rod did, tinted yellow so know where to sand
while I did pot lights Sheldon worked at leveling the yard and moving dirt pile
and I am still going but can you believe that the fancy LED bulbs we bought are too big?? who knew there are many PAR sizes, exchanges in the near future I guess
outside 8 out of the 9 horses were napping while curious Pepper stood guard

here is a better shot of the hand rail and edge installed this week
 close up of the edge
the boxes of lights bulbs I put in and the flattened trim kit boxes, I installed 25 trim kits and 16 flood light bulbs. Can you believe there are 55 pot lights alone in the house? and 38 other receptacles, not including smoke and carbon monoxide detectors  looks like it is back to the store for more bulbs, trim kits and fixtures!

back outside it was gravel pile moving time
from what is to be my garden! think there might be a few rocks?
then dump out on the loop portion at front of house
shadow dancing, the sun shining so bright and warm for a fall day
dumping a trailer load at the garage apron where Sheldon groomed with skid steer and a rake
from the deck a shot of all the birds in the pasture, there were so many but I never tire of this view, birds or not!
After sweeping my deck, putting away paint gear in the storage trailer, putting garbage bags in bins and hauling lumber from the storage pile to build the garage railing, I removed all the bent over nails from all the 2X4s. Sheldon unhooked the dump trailer and at 7 we were off to town.

On the way we got a frantic call from Britt who said the ribs were burning. Seems we left them on medium for five plus hours so needless to say they were a disaster. No photo of tonights meal :-(  Sheldon tried to salvage some and the rest of supper was left overs!

Shaina went with Lynda after work to ride her brothers horses showing her many helpful hints and lessons. She had some supper and told us all about the ride then was off with friends. Britt worked till four, got ride home from Shaina then laid on couch with a sore throat and headache, oblivious to the burning supper until too late. Looks like more cooking lessons are in order for this child. :-)

Blogging and Mama Mia & Dirty Dancing on TV were the rest of the relaxing evening. Should be en early night for Britt who works at 8 AM!! Shaina plans to ride and care for her horses and we plan to continue projects at the ranch tomorrow. Till then..alvederzane, good night!
