Day 161 - Asher play day

Day 161 - was a dewy cool (3 degree) morning when Britt and I headed to the school for her to get in line to sign up for the Eastern Canada Trip. Apparently there were kids there at 5:30 am! by the time Britt arrived at 7:40 she was on a waiting list after 96 kids made the list. Luckily soon after an older lady left a chair right near the front of the line where Mr Strath motioned for Britt to take her place, yeah she made it! This trip takes place next Easter.

Since I was up and ready I went into work, earliest ever! However I had to leave for Julio and Jessie to have shoes pulled and trimmed at 9:30 then back to the town house to babysit Asher while A&C went to a funeral.

He and I had a great day. He loves the dogs and is getting very mobile.
then it was cuddle time for a nap,  I made more home made granola for Sheldon which he loves. (must be batch number 50 at least :-)

Eat Clean granola

3 cups rolled oats
¼ cup sunflower seeds
¼ cup pumpkin seeds
¼ cup hemp or flax seeds
½ cup almonds or pecans
½ cup coconut flakes
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons grape seed oil ( I used olive oil once)
2 tablespoons apple juice
½ cup maple syrup
¼ cup honey
½ cup dried cranberries

Preheat to 350 degrees, lightly grease pan. Combine all dry except cranberries. Mix all wet in small measuring cup and add to dry ingredients. Mix well and spread evenly on pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown and crunchy. Add cranberries. Great with rice or almond milk. (I made my own and it is so yummy)

About 1 1/2 hours later, he woke up refreshed and ready to get going

he loved guitar hero!  At 2:30 playtime was over and it was computer time for me. Blogging, accounting, appliance shopping and sorting paperwork, sounds fun heh?

After school Shaina headed for work, Britt  rode her bike for a sno-joe and Sheldon and I had a beer then him a nap for 1/ 1/2 like Asher. :-) Supper and off to Wal-Mart and No Frills for B&S to grab groceries and such while I finished up todays blog. At Nine, Kaylin and Arron dropped by with birthday cake Aaron baked for her. Shaina got home just in time for the delicious dessert.

Day 160 - Kaylin turns 20!!!

Day 160 is a special day, our little girl turns 20, no longer a teen!

What a beautiful young lady she has become! After being gone to Vancouver for a year to fulfill her dream she is back although living on her own. We are very proud of you Miss Kaylin and love you to the moon and back!
Today was another lazy start to the day but up by 9:30. It was then vacuum the town house day after finally getting the upright from Kaylin. Sheldon ran to totem to pick up some conduit then Kaylin arrived and we headed out for brunch at the Roadhouse at noon.
A quick stop at the house for Britt to change laundry loads, Kaylin ran Shaina to work and Sheldon Britt and I headed to the ranch. Sheldon put the grader on the skid steer and filled the trenches while Britt took off Julio's blanket and checked the horses.

I dug and planted 11 tiny spruce trees, 3 maples, another red dog wood and a saskatoon and 3 silver willows. Then I went to last years patch and dug 15 lilacs and planted them back at the house.

During this time the dogs followed the truck to the highway where they were picked up by a car unbeknownst to us. For the next hour plus we all looked esp Britt on the quad and her bike. Needless to say they are no longer going to get to go along to the ranch. But at 4:45 we had to head back to town as Britt has to work at 5:30 and needed to shower. Shaina needed a ride home from work at 5:30. A message said the dogs were picked up and at a house in Strathmore. Sheldon ran for dogs, drop Britt at work and then to help Grant. Shaina walked home after her patience ran out. Her and I ate left overs.

On the positive weather note, I still have begonias blooming like crazy in October.

Day 159 - October 1 brings rain

Day 159 brought rain which was needed. It only lasted until about 12. Being dreary and rainy I slept in till 10:15 and Sheldon until 11 where he moved to the couch and dozed :-) About 11 I rousted the girls as well since Shaina worked at noon. I then created this masterpiece, the perfect pot roast for supper tonight.
At 1:30 we made a quick stop at Tims then to the ranch where I met with Dustin to discuss laundry room plans and more while
Sheldon and Britt loaded all the lights into the garage

this was what was all in the back seat
and Britt cleaned Julio's most recent wound. No he is not happy! But Britt left blanket on so he stayed warm today. The other horses were very curious and unsure of the blue horse when he went to the pasture.

Sheldon ran the telus cable thru the field
 thru the trees
 and to the pole

this is looking to house from middle cross fence
I updated house photos
 crown molding going up
 every door hung
 including french office doors
 master
toe kick on sinks and island
 headers on french deck doors
 and pantry

 back closet
cabinet doors all waiting to go
 basement doors
double closets in basement bedroom.. not sure whose :-)
view from front deck to septic field

then planted trees,
3 red dogwoods
and 11 lilacs, Sheldon assured me the alfalfa will die within the week but I'm skeptical
and since it rained Sheldon always has to take a run at the road
Then at 5:30 we came back to town where i cooked up some new potatoes to go with the roast and Britt made a salad. Sheldon ran Kaylin to Wal-mart to pickup a large mirror that would not fit in her car. Supper was served at 6:30 and was delicious!! Shaina even joined us after working both her jobs today then she headed out with friends to watch movies. I served Sheldon the rest of the bottle of red wine after the 2 last recipes along with his 4 ibuprofen where he proceeded to enjoy watching TV on the couch for the evening. Britt curled up in a duvet next to him as the chill is still in the air. But she did manage to make a huge batch of triple brownies!
