Day 145 was a fantastic day for a trail ride. After a delicious breakfast of sausage & eggs,
we made a few stops to get hot dog buns, Tim's for tea, drop off hot sausage, eggs and a tea for Shaina (who was at work by 9 working both her jobs today and missing the trail ride) and get gas. Britt and Mom headed out to catch horses while we did the errands.
Dan, the HVAC guy, was at the house waiting to hook up the HRV. Dustin was thinking they might be out today or tomorrow to move in cabinets. Before loading horses I trimmed Hawks's feet, loaded them up and got air in tires. Finally at 11:30 we got on the road taking a detour thru Calgary to drop off a hardwood sample we had at CDL. At 1:15 we made it to Mesa Butte to meet the polocrosse club.

then the knife came into play, after it and much more work, his tail was lovely. At 3 the group of ten mounted up and headed out.
At the bottom of curly sands trail there was a sudden shout to stop, looking back we found Sheldon off his mount winded on the ground. She just bolted was his raspy reply. It wasn't until we arrived back at camp that he had to confess there was a reason she bolted, there was an unusually loud clap of thunder upon the saddle seat that to Daisy sounded like the starting gun at the Kentucky derby that caused her to suck her butt down and leap forward leaving Sheldon in the air for a fraction of time before rapidly declining to the ground where the wind left his body!! This story became the entertainment for the fire side and may have even won him the club ``seat belt`` award for the year!
here he is enjoying a toasted wagon wheel between taco chips, this was after medicinal healing by Lesley of muscle relaxants washed down with 1/2 a forty of coke and crown.
here I am toasting the two bite brownies for all after the gourmet wiener roasting I did.
another highlight of the day was the appearance of two fellows (Will and Andy) on their way to a gig at the black diamond hotel, in exchange for two roasted hot dogs they serenaded us for awhile. (Lesley also managed to trade them 2 cold coronas for a wee bottle of Jaggermeister for Sheldon just to keep the healing level up) Needless to say I drove home later after many more laughs around the fire. What a very enjoyable day this was, even Sheldon agrees albeit with a wee lesson, "never try a one cheek sneak on an Arab!"
